I knew I would move to Berlin one day
When I rode my bicycle through the city, that summer, 2013.
The leaves fluttered, the light danced with me. I felt a peace emanating, a serenity.
I used to dream of Paris.
The romance, the seduction, the film, the fashion, the philosophy.
But Berlin was new, new to me. More inviting.
It didn’t have the food, didn’t have the lovely language,
But it had something
Like a tailored Bohemian sensibility
For artists and a nonchalantness
I craved for desperately.
I wanted something, and Berlin offered it to me.
